Drug Uses


Diflucan medicine is prescribed for patients with vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal and esophagel candidiasis, and cryptococcal meningitis. Diflucan is used as a supportive component with patients who are going to marrow transplantation and cytotoxic or radiation therapy, and decrease the risk of candidiasis.


How Taken


Diflucan medicine is produced in two shapes -tablets and liquid. If you choose the tablet, take it at once, do not chew or slip it. Swallow with water. In case you choose Diflucan liquid, shake it well before drink it. The usual dose is taken once per day, if not something else advised from your doctor. Follow strictly your doctor’s prescription and do not take more or less. Even if you start to feel better, do not stop Diflucan at once and continue until the treatment is over.


Missed Dose


In case it happens to miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. Do not overdose by trying to catch up. Then turn back to your regular schedule.


Storage


If is advisable to store Diflucan tablets in a temperature below 86°F (30°C). Beware not to freeze Diflucan. Diflucan injections in Viaflex Plus plastic containers are available in two diluents – sodium and chloride. They have to be stored in a temperature between 77°F (25°C) and 41°F (5°C). Brief exposure up to 104°F (40°C) does not react to the product.


Overdose


If you suspect overdosing, call immediately your health provider and go to the local poisoning center. The overdose symptoms are more likely to be confusion, hallucination, paranoia, slow breathing, tearing eyes, seizures, urinary incontinence and even death. Do not overdose on any account.


More Information


During treatment with Diflucan avoid drinking alcohol. In combination with alcohol, this medicine can damage the liver. Try not to perform any hazardous activities during treatment, because Diflucan causes dizziness and may interfere on your concentration.

Warnings/Precautions


Before start taking Diflucan, advise your doctor about your medical history. This medicine may not be appropriate for you, in case you suffer from kidney or liver diseases. Do not mix Diflucan with casapride(Propulsid) because it may lead to very serious heart problems. Ask your doctor for special dosage adjustment and monitoring during treatment if you suffer any of the conditions listed above. It is not know if Diflucan can be harmful to an unborn baby. It belongs to FDA pregnancy category C and it passes into the breast milk. If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant during treatment with Diflucan, or you are a breast-feeder, consult with your doctor if you should continue taking Diflucan.

Possible Side Effects


During treatment with Diflucan are possible side effects to occur. The most frequent registered side effects may be gathered like nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, headache, and diarrhea. If you experience any of listed side effects, it may not be necessary to stop taking Diflucan, but medical attention is required. More serious side effects like allergic reaction with symptoms: swelling of the face, tongue and lips, liver damages with symptoms like yellowing of the skin or eyes, unusual fatigue, dark urine, abdominal pain are possible to appear. In such case you need to stop taking Diflucan immediately. If you notice something unusual and bothersome about your health condition, call immediately your doctor and seek medical attention.
