Drug Uses
Propotic drug is topical ointment indicated for moderate to severe eczema. It helps when other drugs are ineffective. Use Protopic only under doctor’s prescription.
How Taken
Your doctor will prescribe you special dosage adjustment and treatment length corresponding to your health condition. You should apply a thin layer of Protopic medicine thoroughly to the effected areas, determined as eczema. Wash your hands before and after appliance. Protopic comes in two strengths- as Protopic Ointment 0.1% and 0.3% (especially for children from 2 to 15 years of age). Do not use this drug if you have weak immune system, Netherton syndrome, and any infection as herpes or chicken pox. Do not take if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant during treatment or you are breast feeder. Tell your doctor if you are taking other drugs, dietary supplements and others.
Missed Dose
Apply regularly your dose of Protopic regarding your doctor’s prescription. Do not miss your regular dose. If it happens, apply Protopic as soon as you remember.
Storage
Keep Protopic in its original packing, tightly closed. Do not expose to direct light, heat and moisture. Keep at a controlled room temperature around15°-30°C (59°-86°F). Do not store in cold or hot places. Keep where no children can reach it.
Overdose
Protopic is topical ointment and overdose is not likely to be experienced. If you experience something unusual and suspect overdose, call your doctor and visit the local medical center.
More Information
Use Protopic only under doctor’s prescription. Do not give your medicine to other people, even if they have the same symptoms as you have. Do not use Protopic for a long time and apply only on the affected areas.
Safety Information
Warnings/Precautions
Do not expose the affected area to sunlight, sun lamps or tanning beds. Avoid any treatment with UVA and UVB light. Wear clothes which cover your eczema when going outside. Do not cover your eczema with bandage or wraps, dress as normal. Ask your health provider about any additional sun protection. Be careful not to get Protopic into your eyes and mouth.
Side Effect
Possible Side Effects
During treatment might be expected side effects of Protopic, especially including: skin irritation, burning, itching supported with skin redness. If they do not go away in the next few days, call your doctor. Other, more serious side effects might be acne, increased skin sensitivity to temperature, infected hair follicles and flu like symptoms. If any symptoms are bothering you, call your doctor for further information and support.
