Drug Uses
Sumycin is very effective medicine that is usually prescribed for the treatment of infections caused by wide range of bacteria. It is also recommended for prevention.
How Taken
Take Sumycin on an empty stomach – one hour before meal or at least two hours after you have eaten. Swallow the pill with a glass of water. Strictly follow the prescriptions of your doctor. You will observe the positive effect of Sumycin soon after you have started the treatment but the immediate good results do not always mean that you have been completely cured. Do not discontinue the therapy on your own responsibility and consult with your doctor.
Avoid taking any kind of antacids or calcium rich foods (for example milk or dairy products) within 2 to 3 hours before or after taking Sumycin. These products often contain aluminum, magnesium, bismuth, iron, zinc or sodium bicarbonate - substances which combine with Sumycin and in that way hinder its complete absorption by the organism.
Missed Dose
Follow the prescriptions of your doctor, only in this way the treatment would be effective. Take the missed Sumycin dose as soon as you remember or skip it if it`s almost time for the next dose. Do not double dose to make it for the missed one. It could provoke side effects.
Storage
Keep Sumycin at room temperature – between 68 and 77 °F (20 – 25 °C). Make sure that the medicine is away from direct heat or moisture. Keep the medicine away of reach of children. Do not store outdated or no longer needed packings of Sumycin.
Overdose
The overdose symptoms of Sumycin are not well studied. If you suspect that you have taken more pills than recommended or feel any strange symptoms, immediately seek emergency help.
More Information
Do not drink alcohol or take drugs while you are undergoing the Sumycin therapy. The combination between this drug and alcohol may lead to dizziness, drowsiness or blurred vision. Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or perform any activities that require full concentration before you have observed the effect of Sumycin on you.
Do not give Sumycin to other people. It was prescribed specially for you.

Although Sumycin is proven safe medicine, the treatment should be consistent with your individual health condition. If you have been diagnostised with any diseases or especially allergies toward certain medicines or foods, inform your doctor. Also notify your doctor of all medicines, herbal or dietary supplements that you are taking. Only your healthcare provider could consider whether Sumycin is suitable for you. Sumycin is not suitable in patients who have diarrhea, kidney or liver problems, gastritis or chronic stomach upset.
Consult with your doctor before taking Sumycin if you are pregnant or intend to have a baby. This medicine could harm your unborn baby. This drug influences the structure of the breast milk so do not take it while you are breast-feeding or at least consult with your doctor.
Sumycin may also eliminate the effect of your birth control medicine. Make sure that you use additional birth control while you are taking Sumycin.
Sumycin may increase your skin`s sensitivity toward sunlight. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or sunlamps during the Sumycin therapy. Always wear protective clothing and use high-factor creams for sun protection in case you are exposed to sun for a long period.
Use with extreme caution Sumycin in children who are under the age of 8. The side effects of Sumycin in such patients are not properly studied. Consult with a pediatrist.
Do not use Sumycin for a longer period than prescribed. The prolonged use of excessive amounts of the drug may lead to drug resistance.

Sumycin provokes side effects rarely. The most serious negative effects that you may observe include: epigastric distress, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, enterocolitis, and inflammatory lesions, black hairy tongue, sore throat, anorexia, bulky loose stools, glossitis, stomatitis, hoarseness, dysphagia, etc. If you observe any of the listed symptoms, stop taking Sumycin and contact your doctor.
