Drug Uses
Elidel cream is universal medicine for treatment of atopic dermatitis, also called aczema. It is suitable for adults and children over 2 years. Elider cream is applied only external on the problematic skin area, including patient’s face and neck. You can continue the treatment with Elidel for a different period of time (short, long or repeated during a certain period) considering your doctor’s prescription.
How Taken
Before start using Elidel cream, consult with your doctor your need of it and require special dosage adjustment adequate to your health condition. The most common dosage is twice a day Elidel cream 1% applied on the effected skin area. The cream is very well absorbed by the skin, so after appliance, rub in gently and do not cover with any bandage. This medicine is suitable even for the most sensitive areas as face, neck and head. Continue treatment with Elidel cream until the eczema is completely gone. If the symptoms do not disappear after the first 6 weeks, consult with your doctor and think over your treatment with Elidel cream.
Missed Dose
In case it happens to miss your regular spread, apply Elidel cream as soon as you remember it. Do not apply more than prescribed and then go back to your regular schedule.
Storage
The best temperature to store Elidel cream is between 15°C-30°C (59°F-86°F). Keep the medicine in its original container. Keep out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Overdose
There are not registered cases of overdose with Elidel cream. If you suspect overdosing with this medicine, call your doctor immediately or visit the local poison control center.
More Information
Before and after you apply Elidel cream, wash your hands with water and soap. Do not take orally. Avoid exposing the treated area under natural sunlight, tanning beds and treatment with UVA/ UVB light. It is not recommended to apply other cream products on the eczema during treatment with Elidel, unless other prescribed from your doctor.

Elidel cream may not be suitable for you, in case you suffer from congenital skin disorder Netherton`s syndrome, immune system disease, skin infection or any skin allergies. Tell your doctor about all the cosmetic lotions and creams, which are you using at the moment. Elidel cream is prescribed to children over the age of 2. If your child suffers from eczema, ask your doctor before start using Elidel. This drug belongs to FDA pregnancy category C, and it is not confirmed if it can be harmful for an unborn baby. For your best safety, do not take Elidel cream if you are pregnant, you are going to become pregnant of you are a breast-feeder. It is not known, if the drug passes into the breast milk.
Side Effect
Possible Side Effects
Side effects during treatment with Elidel cream are possible to appear by more skin sensitive patients. If you experience burning on the problematic area, warming, hyper sensitive skin, skin infection or skin allergy, call your doctor immediately. You may need to stop using Elidel cream until the side effects are gone. Other not so serious side symptoms are possible: throat irritation, fever, viral infection, stuffy nose, influenza and cough. More serious skin reaction can appear- swollen glands, herpes, and warts, sore and other growths on the skin. Ask you health provider for further info and assistance.
