Aldara cream medicine is specially produces to treat warts – both genital and perianal. It treats them from inside out and that is what it is special for. It is applied as a cream. Aldara helps the body to fight the disease, and not just treat the external form of it.

Aldara cream is only applied on skin, do not swallow and do not apply on eyes, lips or nostrils. Consult your doctor when and how often to put the medicine on. It is usually applied on warts at nights, before going to bed. On the morning the medicine should be washed away with water. You will be special advised by your health provider, how long you are supposed to be treated with Aldara cream. Using it too long, increases the risk of having severe skin reaction, rash, redness and other side effects. Before start using this drug, decide if it is suitable for you and the other drugs, in case you are taking such ones. The best dosage for external genital and perianal warts, Aldara cream is applied once per day for three days in a week. Leave the cream to reach from 6 to 10 hours. In case of actinic keratosis, the medicine is applied for two days in a week, left for 8 hours. In both case the treatment should continue until the warts are completely gone – up to 16 weeks. The area you apply on Aldara cream should be approximately the size of your forehead or one check (around 2 inches).

In case you have missed a dose, apply Aldara cream as soon as you have the possibility to do it. After that you can continue your regular schedule.

For best storage keep Adara cream in its original packing, and close tightly the container. Avoid freezing and melting. Keep in temperature below 25oC (77oF). Keep away from children reach.

Do not overdose with Aldara cream, because this may lead to systematic reactions on your skin.

Safety Information

It is very important to wash Aldara cream out away your body before you start any sexual contact. Avoid having oral, genital and anal sex when the medicine is on your skin. Be informed, that Aldara drug contains oils, which can damage condoms, diaphragms or cervical caps. It is not recommended to use other skin products, on the effected area. In case you notice some bothersome symptoms like diarrhea, fatigue, sudden headache, muscle pain or fever, seek for medical attention immediately. It may be advisable to stop using Aldara cream for a couple of days, or to shortage the dosage. Do not share your medicine with other people, even if you think they have the same disease as you do. If you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or a breast feeder, talk with your doctor before start taking Aldara cream.

Side Effect

The possible side effects may appear as skin irritation, redness, feeling itching and burning, high sensitivity to the affected area, swelling and in rare case changed of the skin color that not always go away. It is also possible the treated skin to start peeling, scabbing and crusting. Blisters, sores or ulcer are probable to appear. The skin becomes hard or thickened, but this side effect passes away.
