Drug Uses
Imitrex medicine is mainly prescribed in cases of headache and migraine. It reacts on the blood vessels and the nerves, which are the reason for the pain. Other usages are also known; contact your doctor for further information.
How Taken
Before start taking Imitrex, ask your doctor if this medicine is suitable for you. You may require special dosage adjustment and suitable period of treatment. The most common case is to take one dose, when your migraine symptoms appear. Do not take more than 200 mg per day, even if the pain is very strong.
Drug Interactions
For your best safety, inform your doctor if you are taking any other pain-killers, ergotamine, MAO inhibitors ( linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, tranyclypromine, furazolidone) or other drugs.
Missed Dose
It is hardly possible to miss a dose. Imitrex is taken only when symptoms of migraine appear.
Storage
Keep Imitrex at a controlled room temperature from 20 to 25 degrees C (68-77 F). Store it its original container. Do not melt or freeze. Keep it where no children can reach it.
Overdose
Do not take more of Imitrex than prescribed. Overdosing may lead to serious health problems. By taking more than prescribed you can not increase the effect of Imitrex. If you suspect overdose, seek medical attention immediately.
