Before start taking Elavil, discuss it with your doctor. If this medicine is suitable for your health condition, take it exactly as prescribed. The usual dose is a pill from 1 to 3 times a day. Other possible symptoms can be hyperpyrexia, stupor, drowsiness, and strong headache and muscle rigidity. Overdosing with Elavil can seriously harm you and influence bad on your health condition.

It is not recommended to drink alcohol and use any illegal drugs during treatment with Elavil. These substances can increase the risk of side effects and cause extreme dizziness and drowsiness. You may feel weakness by sudden changing positions. Avoid performing any hazardous activities, operation with heavy machines. Drive with excessive attention. It is not necessary to stop taking Elavil if you experience headache, nausea and malaise. Discuss any bothersome symptoms with your doctor.

Safety Information

Special dosage adjustment is needed according to the patient’s age. If you are over 60 years, a lower dose of Elavil is recommended. If you had a heart attack if the last 2 months, diabetes, asthma, liver or kidney disease, stomach or intestinal problems, enlarged prostate, difficult urinating, glaucoma , this medicine is not suitable for you. In very rare cases you can take Elavil when suffering from the diseases listed above, but only under strict supervision. Do not use Elavil if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant or you are a breast-feeder. Elavil passes into the breast-milk and can harm the baby. Side Effect

The side effects are as follows: sudden excitement, hallucinations, delusion, troubled sleep, loss of orientation, ignorance what is real and what it not, nightmares, nausea, lack of concentration dry mouth, hair loss, increased eyes pressure, intestinal and stomach problems, constipation, anxiety without any reason, blurred vision, breast development in males, difficult or frequent urination, fever, loss of sex desire, sexual problems, loss of appetite, allergic reaction on the skin, sensitivity to light, vomiting, needles in the arms and legs, weakness and others. The most serious side effects can be listed as: hearth attack, hepatitis, difficulty in speech, irregular heartbeat, swelling of the glands and the testicles, rapid change in the weight, and even coma. If you do not feel week, seek immediately medical attention and stop taking Elavil until you receive medical help.
